Quantity field
Whenever the operator records a fact — receiving, putaway, relocation — the amount is entered the same way, in the quantity field. This article describes the field, the ways to set a value, and how a fact is saved. How much may be entered is a rule of each flow and is described there.
The field
The quantity field takes a number, with − and + buttons to step the value by one, and the option to type a value directly. The pack type sits next to the quantity, so the same field is used whether goods are counted in pieces, packs, or pallets — the value always applies to the selected pack type.
Setting the value
The quantity can be set in three ways:
- From the barcode. When the barcode carries a quantity — weight-priced goods, or EAN-128 codes with an embedded weight or volume — the field opens pre-filled and the operator usually just confirms. The embedded quantity applies only to goods measured in weight or volume; for piece-counted products it is ignored and the scan counts as one unit.
- By hand. The operator types the number. This is the default when the barcode carries no quantity.
- With the calculator. The calculator button opens a helper for awkward cases — a partial box plus loose units, unit conversions, mixed pack types. See Quantity calculator.
How a fact is saved
Every flow saves a fact on confirmation. In receiving and in inventory counting, a terminal also offers quick save, and the operator picks between the two:
- Confirm on save (the default). Every scan opens the fact form with the identified SKU and the quantity field; the operator checks the value and confirms. Best when quantities vary from line to line.
- Quick save (+1). The operator turns it on with the On scan chip above the list of lines; it is off by default and is not a warehouse setting. A scan of a single unit then saves the fact immediately, taking the quantity from the barcode or defaulting to one, without opening the form. A short animation shows what was added ("+1" or the actual value). If the fact is rejected, the same slot shows an error mark and the operator switches the chip off or opens the line to sort it out. Best for long runs of identical packs. For receiving, the exact rules are in Record the fact.
Limits
How much may be entered depends on the flow: receiving may allow over-receiving, relocation checks the stock available at the source, and putaway is bounded by the planned quantity. Each flow's documentation describes its own limit. A value outside the limit is rejected on save — see Errors and how to handle them.
